View Full Version : Creative Assembly A couple quick ?'s for CA guys
Will you make available the Excel file that you used to formulate the units and buildings text files for VI, like you did for the original game?
Also, will you release a detailed list of the fixes and enhancements to the standard game, like you did for the patch?
And if I could ask a favor; if you would release the spreadsheet a few days before the game hits the shelves, it would really help with getting our mods switched over to the expansion. I believe that you have added some columns to the units texts and campaign files, will it is going to take a good bit of work to adapt our files.
Thanks for replying,
Wes

I expect someone can post up the Excel files.
I'll look into what data we have on changes and enhancements. As opposed to the patch where everything was intended as a bugfix, there may not be a single coherent point-by-point list of changes for Vikings; the new features may simply be outlined in the manual and left for you to discover as you play :)

here is another question, if you choose to answer http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif you all seem to answer many questions in this forum but not in the RTW colleseum, now i of course realize that you cant answer questions about a nowhere near complete game, but do you guys visit or read our whacky suggestions there? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

At least three of us regularly look at the Rome-related forums both here and at totalwarforums and, if we see something (a) worth commenting on and (b) appropriate, we then offer our words of "wisdom". http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Sometimes, for reasons of commercial confidentiality, we can't say much about some aspects of our development process or current games. However, we do try to be as honest and open as we can be about what's going on.
Constructive criticism also gets fed back into CA system so that the developers who don't visit the forums get the cool-beans-cherry-picked snippets that pop up from time to time.
Speaking personally, I was more involved with Viking Invasion development than Rome until recently, so until I've got my head back into the Roman way of war, I'm keeping my own counsel and not offering comments that may be out-of-date, other than this: RTW is proving to be interesting to work on http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Hope this answers the point.

Wes Thanks for the mod, it certainly improves gameplay a lot. I actually have to pay attention and be careful who I attack now as everyone seems to have good troops and aggression is evident everywhere. Excellent work and I look forward to your VI mod too.
