Very heavy cavalry

What is the difference between very heavy cavalry and heavy cavalry in the game? Are they treated any different from other cavalry? From looking at the stats, they are basically just like any other cavalry except that they are slower, more heavily armored, and their charge values aren't anything special. However, do they get any kind of special bonus like extra "push-back" factor in charges or what?

i think that they armour is heavier, they are slower and their charge is more powerful and i think that is all AFAIK there is no extra bonus

I believe it differs from unit to unit.

Gothic Knights have better defense than charge.

Main difference between Kat's & heavy cav is they have more armour, slower but u can get them from the very start of the game most other heavy cav dosen't appear till high period.
Gothics are late period, they have the most armour & better defence than most heavy cav but like the Kat's they r slow. The real difference for gothics is that they have armour piercing so that means that they are the perfect anti heavy cav unit

Well there slower and if you look carefully they ride down anything but spearmen.

Actually, katas aren`t heavier than chiv knights or order knights.

yeah thats right kataphraktoi are actually standard ehavy cavalry and not on par with chiv knights or order knights, they may even be compared to medium cavalry.

The heaviest cavalry available to the Byzantines is actually the Klibanophori which is on par if not heavier than the Chiv Knights and order knights.

Note some of the horses bred by the later Western Knights were derived from horses taken from the byzantines own stock of horses especially the large, strong and sturdy ones. I'm no horse - phile so i can;t give the name of the type of horses.
