View Full Version : Secret Blood Lover
You all know that vices coming for killing prisoniers are, in this order:
Scant Mercy ~ +1 dread
No Mercy ~ +2 dread, -1 morale
Merciless ~ +2 dread, -2 morale
Secret Blood Lover ~ +3 dread
Now, I understand it's secret, but being a SBL doesn't affect the morale of your army at all? Or it's just that it wasn't stated?
I ask this because, without morale penalty, this "virtue" is awesome
Ok, lol, but that doesn't answers my question ...

I think secret vicees do affect your army, but as soon as a spy finds out about this vice and it is made public, some penalties are added, I don't know which ones at the moment, but I guess it's going to be something like reduced happiness and loss of morale. However, as far as I know, the dread rating is just active on the campaign map and adds to keep the population from revolting, as well as scare off any possible invaders.
I have a general that came with that vice. His own troops are afraid to take prisoners for him to slaughter and would rather rout than feed his hunger. Sadly, only too true.
That button in the botton left corner is just so tempting isn't it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

As I understand it, you gain the virtues for any "Secret" V&V...it is only when the secret is revealed do the vices come into effect.
I had two generals in the current campaign with the Secret Blood Lover V&V...one of them was revealed, and lo and behold, you had a -2 to morale and a -2 piety in addition to the +3 dread.
Fun campaign...the entire royal family of France has close to max dread.
ps. Oh, and I also had Butcher on the one general as well...I probably would have had a 13 dread general if it didn't max out at 9...
well the secret bloodlover is cool but if pay
attention you'll notice that you don't get the extra
dread http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif , bloodlover does however http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Thats really a nice sounding thing to have next to your name... I usually try to play with my major generals so that they develop a distinctive traits on their own... My favorite is always the guy that has crossed into the "Dark Side" http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
Just last night, after a bitter fight in Granada, I had the Amir of Trebizond and Master of the Sultan's Horse acquire Secret Blood Lover straight from Scant Mercy. I clicked to execute about 200 Spanish prisoners after the battle was over (while the kill count was displayed) and there it was. Many captives were foot knights and chivalric knights that I didn't want to fight again.
At the time it seemed the logical thing to do.
