OK - been playing this game for a while now after getting new computer (Dell 2.8 GHz, 514MB, ATI Radeon 8700, Turtle Beach soundcard) and I must say it has been quite an experience. It's been astonishing with everything working perfectly and all settings to the max. For once I've been totally free to "swing my sword" if you like. Not to mention how superb it's been on my 20" flat screen with 5 speakers and huge bass-woofer

Here comes the best part;
Having played this game for months on full campaign as the english I just had two provinces left to conquer (Sardinia and Corsica) and I was preparing for the final push. They were just inhabited by rebels. OK then - guess what. The next turn I get a huge peasant rebellion (2000-4000 revolters) in every single province...yes every single province that is and the golden horde reemerges I didn't know if I was to laugh or cry, but anyways of course I pretty much lost the whole map in the year of our lord 1321 So after that I had something like five provinces left, but the next year there were new rebellions again...Sad fact is that prior to this I was basking in admiration, every province had something like 200% loyalty, I never fiddled with the taxes so their were normal. Only thing I could see was that from 1321 there was a change in troops that I could build (swiss pikemen available, new royal knights and so on). So is this a sick joke? Probably not - the whole game is a joke though OK - I'm laughing now - I feel like Humphrey Bogart in Sierra Nevada. Fooled just before total victory.

You don't need to ask me things like "have you patched the game?, Is it pirated?" and so on because I've done everything right and I've spent many a night this winter/spring with this otherwise superb game, but this is it really

Yes, it's a good joke for a game, but I'll never ever play any more of these Total War jokes/games. Consider it done, that's it - I'm outta here hah hah hah hah (goin crazy)
What c r a p - lets get busy with Unreal-2 instead

sorry to hear SP uscks even more than MP, still we keep playing the game. How is unreal anyway?

Heh, just like the name implies - pretty unreal, but damn what a nerve schocking game. I sometimes feel uneasy about starting it, because the monsters pretty much scare the living c r a p out of you when you get ambushed.

So I can recommend it - it's like a simple kill'em all shooter with no questions asked and no patches needed and stuff.
About strategy games - I can always recommend you to try out the Combat Mission-games. They rule and they ain't never behaved as s h i t t y as Medieval...come to think of it - wasn't the original Shogun pretty cool after all. Yeah it was real good and perfectly balanced...think I might just go back to Nippon again http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

Sorry to hear you dont like SP. It is pretty stupid when everything revolts near the end so i stop at 60%.

Beleive me MP is about 100 times better. The AI can be beaten easily even if you make serious mistakes. In MP you need cunning and skill to beat them as they are really good, More importantly it is very fun and Everyone is friendly to you. You really feel a massive sense of achievement beating someone. It just isn't comparable to 100% victory.

Yeah, Panther-man

I gues you're right - I'm still waiting for my broadband connection. Maybe I'll try it out then.

BTW - I couldn't digest my poor experience last night, so I started MTW again and used autosave. It had saved from the year 1319 (and I got totally fooled in 1321), so I put all my bets on sending every single unit I had left from my sea shore provinces to Sardinia and Corsica...yeah It amounted to something like 3000-4000 men against the rebels 2000-3000 men on the islands and YES I WON TOTALLY

This cheatish victory makes me wanna puke, but at least I won. Wish I could have used my best units for the job and finish it off with some grace or style, but this game isn't very graceful or stylish is it?

I have a 56k and i can host games up to 2v2 and it runs smoothly except rain sometimes makes it lag along with lots of trees http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif but about 90% of the time it runs smootly

This is really weird. I have never seen such rebellions.
I'm playing my 3rd campaign. Usually I have 900 garrison in each province, maybe I'm doing everything right ??

I heard this rebellionthing so many times, I wonder if my copy of MTW has been blessed by the Pope ?

Very brief MP pros & cons:

Pros:

-Human Intelligence http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/idea.gif
-Interaction http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/argue.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/flirt.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
-You can play on 56k, no probs

Cons:
-Lacks strategic depth of campaign
-Repetitive armies, people tend to bring more of the same thing
-Repetitive maps (e.g steppe)
-Lack of battle objectives: usually it's just winning that counts rather than strategy. In SP you can actually send an advance army to wear down a big army, before engaging with a main force.

MP is cool overall, well worth it.

Well those are some bad points but still, You won't notice many of these Cons, Except the Pav arbs as almost everyone brings them http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif
I hate Pav arbs, They are just so slow firing. Also some actually want you to waste 20-30 minutes just having a dull shootout (end result run ut of ammo http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif )

I prefer Longbowman and infinate ammo. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Arbs are soooo slow fireing, I even prefer crossbowmen over them, at least they get a decent amount of shots off.

Hi, Sinan

Yes, you've been a little bit more careful than I. In order to continue with my conquest I've only left about four units as garrison in new provinces and downscaled them to two units after a while...something to think about...

Bet your a s s I did
Yeah, that might be the explanation

I wanted a really dramatic ending so I moved my King to Crete or Cyprus or something...two-three years later all of my kingdom was a just a memory, alas...sometimes sung about in the ballads

There is always less room for maneuver in a 4v4 compared to a 1v1...but do try some large maps instead. Still not large enough I guess but they are a lot better. Orda has made some great maps http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

But it would be nice with some kind of objective: Your crusader army has to reach the other side of map while enemy horse archers hits you from all directions.. oh damn now I'm talking mods again http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I see what you did wrong. But you should note, it's not sending the king to the island that's a problem, it's that there is probably no port on the island, at least not after you take over it and it is destroyed basically, therefore you can't send ships out and can't get messages out. The lack of contact with the king is what does it, I think that's mentioned in the manual somewhere or something. The country thinks the king is dead, no wonder they get worried http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Well maybe then. Anyway I can't use Arbalesters and Crossbowman. They just don't seem to work for me. Longbowman are so much cooler.

The only time I have seen crossbowman work is a point blank range, and by then they are all but dead anyway.

Gee that sounds like fun actually... it's like having a whole new game to play just when you thought you had won

Some people just don't like dealing with tough/unexpected situations I love it

I'll second that... Longbowmen at least have a good rate of fire
