Here I have this wonderfull nine star Emperor and he lives a long and eventfull life. Now this Emperor was very fertile, and managed to produce six sons all of wich came to age during his reign. Not a single one of them knew a battlefield from fallow land, every single one of them had a big fat zero in command. Makes me wonder if the empress had an affair with the commander of the guard or something, for they sure cant have been fathered by who they say they were. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif Was they good for anything despite their lack of battlefield awarness? I sympathise... it is like my English campaign... four or five son's... and they are all unhinged loons with nil combat experience... mind you, it has a beautiful symmetry, having an unhinged loon king being controlled by a unhinged loon player... I don't win many campaigns... but I have a ball doing crazy things.

My experience, echoed by many other posts here, is that 7 star gens are the best. They seem to be able to produce quality heirs, while 8 and ups generate dweebs.

My guess is that Tiger Woods kids won't be able to stay out of the rough or two putt; Micheal Jordans kids can't dunk; Wayne Gretzkys kids probably can't skate. Too much pressure to follow in the old man's footsteps.

Or, perhaps too much time in the saddle on a horse pinched something and only the small ones got thru.

Well they werent actually bad, they just sucked at the battlefield.... Once as Byzantines my Emperor gave me 6 7 and 8 stared heirs, all acumen 7 and 8 as well. Then he died, and then the next Emperor just had a son before dieing, leaving me with 5 uber-generals who just about doubled my income as well as slaughtering everyone.

For some reason the game warps 9 or 10 command heirs to 0 when they first mature. Such an annoying bug.
