The English start a Crusade, aimed at Antioch, from Wessex. They cross the Channel to Flanders, then turn south.

As Spanish, I expect he will swing by and drain a few good men from my army. I own the seas, everything from Baltic to Black. English has NO ships, and we have been at war from 120 years.

The Crusade drops into Provence, which I own, and which has a port. Then next turn it is in Antioch.

We are at war, but I let the Crusade pass through my lands 'cause I don't want to get excommed right now. Does this mean that the (as John Cleese says in The Holy Grail) 'Silly English Conniggots' get to use my ships/trade route to move?

yeah the few times i do play catholic factions i never let crusades through my provinces(its something i learned to hate) excommunication & crusades r only a problem at the start of your campaigns. So once you have a firm grip on ur lands & half decent armies never let crusades through.
I have had crusades use my ships before as the italians(they went through venice on their way to egypt). They couldn't take egypt so the crusade would be back in venice every turn stealing needed & good troops http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pissed.gif

Once you allow the Crusade to pass, you allow them to use your ships.

If you are allied with another Catholic faction close by, you'll notice the buggers actually will try to make their way to one of your ports for a free ride.

Thanks guys; I was imposing 'Noble' rules on myself, trying not to get excommed (a Christian thing).
