Is is jut me or does anyone else have trouble fighting in the words as it's blooming hard to keep track of what's going on and you just can't see?

I've been having a few battles with the Horde recently and generally sticking to the woods to counter their cavalry but manoevering is very tricky. In my latest battle the Horde surrounded the wood I was in and then kept coming from all sides and catching my units in the flank or from behind as I couldn't see exactly what was going on. Any tips on how to manage this a bit better?

Difficulty with Woods... then yes.

Difficulty with Words... only when debating with Wasabi and then I might as well just press the rout button.

In woods if you have a scroll mouse button then just raise your altitude and look towards the ground... a more aerial view reduces the obstruction of the trees.

Perhaps you should try enlarging the minimap to maximum size and coordinating your movements there.

I'm having difficulty in the woods too http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

Now how to manage.

Well primarily I deploy in a way that I do not necessarily have to change my formation. I create the formation out of the woods, in deployment mode and then cntrl-a and pop them in the woods. I wait and see to make sure no units are overlapping (as this would cause an irritating slow march out of formation).. Then I assign numbers to individual elements of the formation. For example, cntrl+shift+1 for front line, cntrl+shift+2 for right anti cav. Once this is done I start the battle, during battle I rely on my number allocation to help me keep track of units. I use the number allocation before I engage and that helps me to recall where the units should be. If the formation needs to chnage face then that is easy enough simply chnaging face for the whole formation. This avoids the complications of having to redraw units in the woods.
