Here are a couple of products that I feel can give players an edge in multiplayer (or singleplayer) STW:

Game Commander 2 (http://www.gamecommander.com/) is a voice recognition program which I find it works darn well to cut-down on the amount of clicking that players must do. I use it for all the menial functions such as: selecting groups of units, choosing formations, and rallying troops. It works extremely well, and is compatible with any game (a must if you are flight sim fan); the retail pack includes it's own headset mic.

Strategic Commander (http://www.microsoft.com/products/hardware/sidewinder/devices/SComm/default.htm), this is the single best thing I have found for games like STW; it basically takes the keyboard out of the equation and allows you to control everything that normally requires keyboard interaction, (including map view controls), with just the left hand. It has 64 possible button combinations and also has the ability to record macros while in-game. I think it is an awesome product, but it is made by microsoft so try to steal it if possible. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Roger Wilco (http://www.resounding.com/products/downloads/index.html), is a free shareware program that allows teammates to talk to each other in real-time using voice communications instead of keyboard. Obviously this can give teams a great advantage in 2v2 games. (One player must act as server, and the other one joins via his client IP). As far as I have found the program is fully compatible with STW.

Roger Wilco really is top. Bloody marvelous program, it is. I've used it only a few times, and only on Quake Team Fortress, but it's just absolutely brilliantly useful. The hard part is finding people who want to use it with you. =)

This Strategic Commander sounds interesting from the description; I may have to check it out.

ROGER WILCO ROCKS and is the best! u have only the problem if u get a bounch of people inside ... is very problematic with a lot of people!...i find another program long time ago and FORUMs of other GAMES cann't chosse ine that is better only rest to say that BATTLECOM have better features...instead i use ROGEr... is easier to use...

SADLY BATTLECOM was absorved by the monster MICROSOFT and now many of the resources of BATTLECOM are included in the GAMEVOICE SOFTWARE...GAME VOICE is an artifact taht have a lot of things but if u get somewhere the old battlecom software u can save a lot of money ... i have a copy of battelcom it was a FREEWARE before the MICROSOFT ate it!:P

You should hear our clan channel for Roger Wilco (Tenki). We have California, Texas, Iowa, Mississippi, UK, Australia, and Germany. It can get pretty crazy.

As long as your 2v2 partner hosts the server you should still be able to use Roger Wilco no problem (even at a 36k baud rate).

roger wilco is cool and our clan uses it. . . . .Hatamotokill it is free just go to the site and download it. . if u have a mic u can go straight away!!
