I think these are right:

Battlefield Ninja 600
Kensai 600
Ashigaru Xbowmen 100
Naginata Cav 450
Mongol Javelineers 375
Mongol spearmen 200
Korean Guardsmen 350
Thunder Bombers 400
Mongol LightCav 500
Mongol HeavyCav 600

I think the prices are for both Single Player and Multiplayer games.

Bear in mind that, playing as mongols, you can't train units. You loot regions and send the gold back to the Khanate and a number of reinforcements turn up depending on how much gold you acquired that year.

I doubt that you can pick what type of reinforcments you will recieve...........

Looting works by taking a region by force, and is done automatically at the same time as the destruction of buildings. All clans loot when they take a region by force. The amount of cash looted is dependent upon how rich the province was before it was invaded ( i.e. decent farm income and number and type of buildings it had ).

Looting is the only source of income for Mongols - they're not interested in ruling provinces, only pillaging them. As a result, you can't construct unit manufacturing buildings - the only way you can get extra men is from reinforcements when you send your pillaged loot back to the Golden Khanate.

Time for me to call it a night. Just spent the last two and a half hours playing Max Payne, and everything keeps going into Bullet Time - a sure sign I need some sleep.

Muhaha, kneel before Remedy Entertainment!

Ahem.

With Target-dono's gracious help, I am glad to finally declare the "guess the unit costs" contest in the Place your bets (http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000130.html) thread closed! Of course, as in all good contests, the result is debatable: Whitey-san, who originally started the thread, has the smallest total deviation from the real costs, but that's only because he refused to post a cost for the Kensai. If we factor in the penalty for an average Kensai deviation, the victory passes narrowly to our very own Shiro-san.

Interestingly enough, everyone's guess for the price of the Kensai at least 300 koku off - and all of them *upwards*.

Equally interestingly, I and several others assumed the Korean Spearmen would equal Ashigaru and thus cost the same (100 koku in SP with 60 man units), but they don't - they actually cost the same as YS. Either this is indicative of their combat effectiveness, or the Mongols are getting ripped off. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Edit: Good thinking, Sherlock. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Originally posted by Target in another thread: Quote With that in mind, the Korean Spearmen, whilst priced at the same cost as the YariSams are less effecive in battle. [/QUOTE]

Question for Target: could you please confirm that all Clans can loot provinces now? How much Koku can I expect??
Very cool feature, that was one of the things I wanted!!

All clans loot provinces. I think the loot you get is calculated from the cost of downsizing building levels. Something like (value of building before downsizing - value of building after downsizing)/2. If you want to get lots of cash quickly, successfully invade a region with lots of expensive buildings in it.

I tried them out once... they blew chunks! I figured they *might* be able to sting the mongols... nah! That leaves the japos out-missled, as they have no guns to rely on anymore! What's a japo to do? Die like the rest...

In campaign at least then, mongols will not get hordes of hev cav, but multiplayer is different me thinks.

In the Mongol Campaign there are no guns. Well known fact. They didn't have the at that time.

The Crossbow Ashigeru aren't that bad, but don't expect battle turning results for a 100 koku 60 man unit. Their rate of fire is kinda slow but can inflict alot of casualties. They fire directly so you can't line friendlies in front of them without risk. IMO they can be a nice compliment for your SA.

You can't get guns in the Mongol Invasion timeframe since the Europeans did not arrive until much, much later.

As for the Mongol HC they are quite powerful and have killed practically any cav unit I've thrown at it though I haven't used Naginata cavalry yet. YC seem to do decently early on but the MHC will come roaring back.

The best counter I've so far had against the MHC is raining arrows on them but the best way is to somehow get your YS involved. Naturally this means holding in a closed formation. The blazing speed of the MHC can be a problem.
