Autoroute bug

Can someone explain what this bug is in detail.

Been playing this since day one and i just assumed it was like a morale cascade and part of the game.

When you move a unit "away" from an enemy unit, there is a chance that your unit will rout. You can never rally such a unit.

ALSO,
If you have bypassed a hidden unit and 'stack' your commands - using waypoints for example - the likelihood of the unit routing increases with each additional command to 'move away'!
