I had this really good introduction question about repairing units made up and was looking forward to posting it. But I decided to read those posts about commonly asked question firsts and my whole world was torn apart.. it was already answered. *Grins*

Anyway, I am just saying hello to you all, being new to the board and all. I've been playing Medeival for about a month, and had shogun since it got out. I read a post on this board yesterday that mentioned battlefield ninjas, are they exclusive to the Mongol invasion expansion to Shogun I wonder? I'd get the expansion for the battlefield ninjas alone... Will I get dissappointed ? I love ninjas and Haishishins, I was a bit suspicious at first wondering if they could be as good as their profile suggests, but when 60 of them charged a truckload of saracen slaughtering byzantine in the back and killed just about all of the Kataphractoi and routed the rest. I realised they deserved their profile.

And now onto my big question, about crusading knights.

Is it possibly to build them without crusades? I read somewhere that you could only build them after a successful crusade, I read somewhere else that the only way to build them was through creating a crusade and hoping you got some templars/teutonic/whatever in the army. If that is the case, why does the Templars created in Palestine I think it was gain a valour bonus? Surely they cannot suggest that you should embark on crusades FROM the holy land? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

So, you veteran players with divine knowledge about the game.. what is true, and what is false ?

Well I'll just say hello back, because I know very little about the crusade units. I've read that cant get them unless you start a crusade but dont know that for sure. I do know that the hashishin are pretty tough, as I had about 6 units of them almost take out my whole army once. Anyway welcome aboard.

You can only train the order knights upon starting a crusade. They can't be built normally. So that valour bonus in palestine only helps when you start a crusade form there.

hello
http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
you can only get crusading units once you complete a crusade... you can never train these units specifically, but everytime you start a crusade you get some, and when it is completed, you get to keep what is left

It would be sooo much cooler if you could actually create the individual units in the areas you have successfully crusaded to and conquered. It is well known that the crusading knights had their own castles and whatever in the holy land. Anyway, I suppose we dont get anywhere with

It would be so much better if..-posts

Does anyone have any tips for what provinces to move through in order to get more templars/order soldiers etc etc, if its possible ? maybe passing through provinces with chapter houses?

Hi Vrashk and welcome aboard. The game developers do visit here and do collect notes from those if only... posts.

I've had limited experience with crusades, but I imagine Alrowan may have hit upon the answer: high zeal in starting provice most likely will give you more of the Order knights.

ive had some experience in crusades, and from what i gather you only seem to get 3 units to start with anyway.. usuualy order foot or order knights

Hashashins die real fast when you have a few arbalest units shooting at them...I should know, the Almohads fielded a unit of those against me today http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Well heres a crusade tip for ya. Im playing the Byzantine, with a large portion of the map. The Italians decide to crusade to Algeria to put the smack down on the Almohads. I own most of the Ibernian peninsula so they have to cross my territory. I agree to let them pass through, and lo and behold, they decide to just sit in Castille because the Almohads have a huge force in Cordoba and Granada. Kinda funny seeing orthodox troops sucked up into a crusade, but now its slowly depleting itself. Course its my fault for making the Almohads fight for survival every turn in those two provinces against rebels caused by my spies. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

ps. guess its more of a story than a tip, but dont let the crusade through

why did the messenger always ask thatdo you want to let Crusade pass through your territory,if you refuse, they will attack you something like that..Why would any Christianity nation refuse to let Crusade pass through their territory, btw If the Papacy refuse let Crusade pass through the Papal of state, will the Crusade attack the Pope?Just a thought? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif
