These might be answered in some of the older posts, if so sorry.

I see iron as a resource but only copper mines are available. Is this because iron only determines that you can make advanced armor/weapons? Maybe need to advance in years before you get iron mines?

Also I built a copper mine complex but it only produces 100 florins, is this number different for different provinces or just a standard number for all provinces with copper mines.

I have norway and other than producing vikings with +1 valor it seems pretty worthless and even farming upgrades will not make much money. Is there something I could do to increase this or is it just not good land for farming? In some games I used to play you could control peasant population which effected how much money you made from resources.

I guess what I am asking is there a way to improve a low producing province into a high producing province?

If you build farm upgrades in every location that initally it suppose to gives you more than 250
income, but I suggest that you should only build farm upgrade if you have extra flourin to spend...

Also it is good idea to build trading posts in places that have either two or more tradable goods.Try to conquer rich province such as antioch or Contiplora...

Trade with other nations make mad flourin as well, especially if you are playing as the Italin.

Yes, it looks like some provinces are just better in making money, whereas other are not. There are mods that change the value and add natural resources here and there, like For God and Country but I have never used them. You could also make evrything more affordable through modding the units/buildings stats and with some help, you might be able to do the changes alone.

As I said though, life is not always pretty and not every nation could be rich like Italians, but every province has a value: if not economical, maybe strategic.

I think you need a castle or better before you can build the weaponsmith (iron). I wouldn't waste money upgrading farms in Norway, but it can make you some florins trading once you have some ships and it is good for Vikings as you noted. There is a wide variance in potential cashflow from provinces. I think its best to specialize in the strengths of the province and if there are none - use them for making troops or just let them sit once there is no more to be gained. When you are on the building screen it will show you how much money a potential farm upgrade will bring in, if the payback period is long (20+years) I don't build the upgrade unless I have money to burn or I am looking at possible disruption to trade from a long naval battle. The copper mine income is standard, 100 florins is actuall ypretty good when you consider you much the mine cost (14 years payback I believe)

I like Norway as a trade province. If you have a decent fleet, you can get trade income for wood and fish. Two trade items is darn good for a province. Early in the game, those +1 Vikings are pretty darn good too. Norway gets a bad rap, probably because Sweden is next door and produces about 10 times the wealth.

Forget farming upgrades in places like Norway. Set up a trading post there instead. I also use it for ship building and special agents like assassins and spies.

Fix costs of increase farming make farm improvement in poor provinces not pay off. If you don't have anywhere else to spend money, then upgrade farm in poor (100 fl/yr from farming) doens't make sense. But then, if you had money, then you don't need the poor province either http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Some poor farming province may have goods to trade. Setup trading post and build port instead of improve farming. Some province has bonus to produce horses. You need to have farm improvement before you can have horse farmer, so that's about the only exception.

So, pile on the rich one. Put high accument governor there. Increase farming and trade there. Extract very high tax there. Guarison large force there and improve castle there.

On poor province, just do whatever to make ther peasant happy. Set tax to very low and forget about it. You have the rich kids to what.
