Hello, ive been enjoying reading all your posts.. very informative. I reluctantly bought the game on ebay last week I was hesitant to buy it because the medieval armies looked so organized and to well drilled I had always thought that the medieval army was merely a mob with weapons lacking organization or discipline.

but anyways after reading your posts the game sounded too damn interesting. I do think however that a game like this would be much better suited to the Roman Era where there were all the political and skulduggery stuff going on as well as variation in factions and units

furthermore I think for this next installment of this game that castle design be thrown in the ability to build the walls towers ditches and moats. Also Seige Towers and battering rams.

My question is should I install the patch or not?

Signs point to YES.

Heh but seriously, the patch fixes a lot of stuff and cavalry gets a real nice redo. So I hear, Im too deep in a Byz campaign to quit so I havent patched. But as soon as I finish this one Im patching, then gonna try out some mods.

If you watched braveheart then you would see that many armies in the middle ages had very organized battle formations. Read up on the classic battles like hastings and agincourt. If you watch movies about the french revolution then yeah those were indeed mobs and I think it would be cool to have a peasant mob formation just for looks http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif.

I installed the patch and havent regretted it yet

JoeBax : French revolution dates back from 1789. That's directly before Napoleonic eras, very far from the medieval Era. However, you're right about the bloody unorganized mess that it was.

And formations tend not to last too long when the fight is balanced. Especially after an highlanders charge.....

I like the patch. It has helped with some minor problems with the original load. Welcome to the org BTW
