View Full Version : Computer Faction Revolts

Hello everyone. First post. I have been playing awhile. Tried the English. I have been playing the Danes lately, on expert. I have noticed the computer many times ends up loosing land to revolts. I have revolts a very few times, but to me the computer is not handling the economic side of the game very well.

On anothe point, I was able to bully the French out of the British Isles after the Enlish computer player lost its only heir in a battle with the French. The French swooped up the states quickly but about 7 years later the Viking hoard arived. I landed just south of Scottland with about 3 archers units and about 18 units of viking made mostly from Norway (+1 Valor) with a prince that I think was 4 valor and 4 stars. The computer retreated. Then two years later I moved everyone I could south. The computer retreated again. I ended up taking all of the British Isles this way with out a single battle, which is bad for my prince's combat experience. There was a major battle for Flanders. I thought I could keep up the forcing retreat but the French stood their ground. Big battle. I think the battle was going fairly equal or more towards myside. Until...I wasn't watching the prince. He got engaged in a fight with two units and I was unable to get him out before he was killed. Everyone ran away at that point. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif Oh well, win some, loose some.

Cheers

Good day and greeting TexasDevilDog Welcome to the Org and the Entrance Hall.

I've heard a number of complaints about the AI's tendency to continually retreat until it can no longer retreat. It seems it does recognize the value of some provinces though. Too bad about your prince. I can't claim that has never happened to me. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Greetings Tex. The AI does suffer management problems sometimes, but I think it's due more to allowing provinces to get cut off from the King, either by a naval blockade or foolishly retreating into a landlocked corner. If you attack them with a vastly superior force they will retreat. And the more the retreating AI general backpedals, the worse his V&V gets, making it more likely the next time, till you back him into a corner that is. I hope your prince wasn't the only one you had, I'm careful with them till I get several on hand. I'm currently playing a Danish campaign myself it's 1322 and my young King, 25, seems to only be able to produce 2 daughters and 1 son. No more heirs in 5 years time, hope he doesn't stop there, I hate civil wars http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif
