Currently my whole homeland armies are terrorised by assasins and I dont seem to catch any of them either so I cant figure out who's doing this.
What can I do against assasins?

If you build border-forts in your lands you'll get rid of the enemy assassins.
Also, if you send an assassin to a province with a border-fort you'll get caught. Yet, if you send more than one only one is caught.
It seems that the computer only sends one assassin at a time.
First - border forts
Second - counterspy in each prov, either one of your own spies, an assassin or an emissary. I think even a bishop helps in catching enemy spies.

Yeah border forts are your best bet. Just try not to get too many though so just put them on your borders. I didn't learn this until I had a border fort on every piece of land I owned. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

Why whats wrong with having a border fort in each region? not only do they catch spies, im pretty sure they help with loyalty.
