View Full Version : the battle of Jaffa
I was just wondering if the battle of Jaffa is actually hard like they say in the demo, i beat it easyly.
If you beat it what is your best kill/prisonner and men lost count.
Mine is approximately 1050 kill/prisonners and 100 men lost.

Stormer http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
Do you have the full game stormer cause i don't yet.
I really want to know if it is hard compaired to battle in the full version.
From what I remember the battles in the demo is like a series of training sessions designed to build your skills up in preparation for the full game. If you enjoyed the battles then I reccomend you to get the full version as some of the historical battles in it is great fun and harder than the battle of Jaffa. Also with the game you can play a full campaign and play online with other peoples.

By the way, welcome to the.Org zelrak http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
I originally found the demo's Jaffa battle pretty difficult, although I did win it. I was overwhelmed by the vast size of the armies, at the time, compared to Shogun:TotalWar, the previous game in the series. Since you found it easy, sounds like you're the kind of guy who'd like the multiplayer aspect of MTW - playing other humans is a whole other (and more difficult) world.
Once you get the trick it is pretty easy to win.
Does anyone else have stats from their battle?
i tried it in the demo once, but the demo kept crashing.. so i never beat it
Does nobody play the demo???
I am egerly waiting for the game (i might get it for xmas if not i'll buy it).
Am i the only interrested person without the full version?
Hello, I'm another newbie without the game at least for a couple more days until Christmas.
I beat the Battle of Jafa many times but I don't think I'd ever gotten 10-1. If I rememember correctly, my usual ratio for a victory was around 4-1. My stategy was to reform my ranks into a half circle and counter attack on the left flank. Saladins forces rout easily and once you get them running the battle is over.
If you're getting bored with the demo mission, I'd recommend you try out one of a very nice mods for the demo. After playing Richard Lionheart so many times, it was fun to switch sides and destory him as Saladin. You can find these mods here; just look around.

Finnaly someone.
My tactic was to put everyone in a corner with the spearmen in front, then the archers then the foot knight and cav.
I would concentrate my arrow fire on the general so i would kill him. When he died the enemy would rout giving me enough time to reform my spearmen (switch less damaged unit with better ones).
When they rally they would hesitate just before my line so i charged with every one and ran after them with every one as they fled. The key is killing there general.
That felt good i've been diing to talk about the demo but there where no therds.
Playing as Saladin must be easy, Saladin outnumber's Richard at least 3 to 1.
I was wondering if it is possible to get 200 men units, cause i see in unit list on the net that they only come in 100s or less, but in the demo you get a 200 men unit of spearmen in one level and Saladin gets many 120 men units in Jaffa.

You can find a lot of mods for the demo
which will give you a better idea of what
you are missing.
Battles maps icon and units
A lot of the battles were very good
and helps understand better how they work
try them out if you haven't yet

Lord Krazy,
i tried to get some mods but they all said to copy to the Jaffa folder or an other folder with wasn't there so i created one in historic battles but it still didn't work can u help me?
Zelrak about the missing folder,
The path you want is:
Medieval - Total War(Demo Version)\Battle\batinit\Historical Battles\Jaffa
I'd recommend creating a back up version incase you want to play the old one again. And about the Saladin battle, it's not as easy as it looks. Saladin is a 0 star general (not true to real life) and your troops have 0 valor. You outnumber Richard 3 to 1 but if your troops don't have 2 to 1 odds in an engagement they will run like little girls. If the AI played like the human players do in this battle, it'd be impossible. As it is, it's a fun exercise in beating a superior quality army by overwhelming them with numbers.

Thanks Korror i'll give it a try, i found the folder was looking in the wrong place.
