Hello,
Have anybody ever encountered a strange battle?
Let me tell you a brief story about my strangest battle ever.
I was playing as Egyptians, and I had Tripoli province (I think). I was making a few troop incrusions into Syria, which was quite annoying to the Turks. It was mainly a form of raid, sometime I use it to pile up more florins.
Anyway, the Turks had enough of this, and sent a vast army after mine in Tripoli, I was badly outnumbered 4 to 1. All I had were one peasant unit, one numbian spearmen unit, and a single Gholum bodyguard cavalry unit. What's even worse is that most of my units were delepted.
Fortunately for me, the battlefield was full of hills and forests. I decided to place all of my units in the forest. Waiting for enemy assaults to come, by the way, most of enemy units were archers, some spearmen, a couple of heavy cavalry units.
First, the heavy cavalry units went into forest, attacking my poor peasants, the cavalry units were cut down to pieces. Next came archers, they peppered my units, but they were already deep in forest and set in loose formations, so the arrows fell harmlessly. Finally, some enemy spearmen came out at me hard, charging at my lines, attempting to overturn my flanks. At that time, I did not commit my lone cavalry unit. I waited until the right moment to turn around my flanks. For what seemed to be hours, my numbian spearmen were exhausted from heavy fighting, finally, my cavalry unit charged into the spearmen from behind.
The enemy was routed completely. It was one of my biggest victories ever, defeating a well-armed Turkish army This paved the way for the eventual invasion of Syria, driving back the Turks to Rum province.
I don't know about you, but my lone cavalry unit had about 200 kills, while my peasant and numbian spearmen had about 50 to 100 kills apiece. I had lost about 20 to 40 men, which is a lot, considering my units were already depleted at the beginning. The peasants were nearly wiped out, only one man (yes, that's right, ONE man) survived the battle.
All of them had gained high valour points. My cavalry unit had 3 valours, while peasants had one or two, and numbian spearmen had two.
I'm interested if anybody has a good AAR or anything like that. I would enjoy them very much, thanks.
Dan
