View Full Version : Unit Avail Time Line??? -- I can't make anything!!

I've read teh entire Manual.
I've even read teh entire Official Strategy Guide.
and I've already did teh patch.

Then I tried to play a game.

And it seems like I can't make any special units.

Like... Trying to make English Longbows...

I sack the Welsh... because they have a province bonus for making Longbows.

Teh Tech Tree says I need a Bowyers Guild to make Longbows.
Bowyers Guild is a Level Three Tech.
So I build a Fort (1)... turn it into a keep (2)... and then into a castle (3).

Build a Town Watch...
so I can Build a Bowyer...
so I can build a Bowyers Workshop...
so I can build a Bowyers Guild.

Tee-Daaaaa.... still no Longbows.

I tried the same thing on the province to the right...
To make Billmen.
Fort, Keep, Castle, Town Watch, Spearmaker, Spearmakers Workshop, Spearmakers Guild... no Billmen.

Is there a time period these things become available???
Am I waiting for an invention?? Am I not reading the tech tree right???

Do I got a Bug??? What's the Deal?

Certain units dont get avaliable until a specific year so that no1 faction gets a massive advantage.
Dont critisise it imajin wat would have happened if the english had longbow men and billmen from the 1300's.

Well i dont realy know but if u ask enough and do a little research then u will probably findout. usualy they appear when the real weapons appeared in real life.

Thought I was going insane.

Didn't read anything that said the troops wouldn't be avail until the high era.

There is also a pinned thread over in the MTW forum at .com that lists the special units and when they can be built.
