View Full Version : Question about 2 faction invasions...
I have seen when two factions invade a province that after the original owner is defeated that these two invading factions must fight.
However, if I am not mistaken, I think this happened with me and one of my allies so my question is....
... has anyone else seen this OR was I just mistaken and not an ally with this other faction.
It bothers me because I was Egypt and the Turks were my friends. They were under siege by the Byzantines so I run in to help them. After the battle I was in their territory and now they were at war with me. But I came and helped them and now they hate me.
Is this a bug or was I mistaken and they were not my allies?
I hope it was just my mistake because if it wasn't then I can not help my allies.
You can help allies, maybe you were nuetral with them at the time you moved your troops there. If you send troops to lift a siege of an ally's prov, after the battle your troops return to wherever you sent them from and the prov returns to the control of your ally.

It hapened to me too,
I was Byzantium, and there was an uprising in one of Hungary's territories, which were allied to me, and then I rushed in and defeated the uprising, when the battle ended I got a message which Informed me that i had Liberated the province for my Ally. Now, the next thing to do was to retreat from the province back to my own.
Interestingly enough, there was no army protecting that provice, so I guess, when there is an army present, we can't offer such assistances, as the armies will have to fight, and War would insue.
Now, I would also like to say that even if I did help the hungarians keep that province, it does not seem to have affected the relations with them, and 10 years later they just attacked me and we were at War.
So, for as long as an neighboring ally does not feel thretened they will remain allies, but if that changes, whatever good deeds you have done, they will go to war with you.
At least, it is what I have witnessed up to now, and it was like that with STW too, Althought MTW is lots less erratic in terms of Diplomatic Relations.
In any case, if anyone knows or has witnessed different behavior of the AI I would too like to know about it.

I have got another story. I played Danes at that time. I found that Constantinople had changed hand several times due to the crusades. At one point, it was France, one of my allies, that occupied the city but with really weak army. So, I sent in the emissaries and waited for the revolt. It did happen the France troops retreated to the castle. I checked that it was one about one year to fall. Then just bought the province from the rebels. It worked. But unfortunately, the France army inside the castle got out for a last ditch defense. Instead of finding the rebel, it saw my newly recruited (or converted) army. So, the France king sent me the letter of gratitude (for saving his province). He also kindly attached the bill of ransom for my ,unfortunate to be there, ex-rebel army too. Well, It seems to me that I did nothing but buying that junk army twice.

Just for the record I want to add that the diplomatic model is way too simplictic and not working: It seems that the alliances are useless and a diplomacy feature was abandoned half through the development process (just like the heritage lines, princesses etc). Sooner or latter all your allies will atack you anyway...
