I'm not sure but i think when you're organizing your army at the beginning of a battle you right-clik on the unit of knights and it will have that option. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif

The option will only be available if they mounted units can dismount before a battle.

Welcome sirmixalot, the bar is over...oh, you've found it already.

Just remember this: foot knights will never amount to anything. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

Man Gregoshi you musta had a good Christmas. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif Well this is gonna sound dumb, but I only use horse archers, Kataphraktoi, Steppe cavalry, or Pronanoi cav. One of those is dismountable, but i dont think its the Katapharktoi. Hit the dismount option by mistake once, and since I dont use cavalry a lot, cept the horse archers, I cant remember which could dismount.

I think Gothic, Chivalric , Feudal Knights, Lithuian Cav... and a few others I can't think of.

I was on my game last night, wasn't I Naagi. Too bad you all have to suffer through it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

I'm never sure about the dismounting business. I seem to recall having some knights I thought should be able to dismount and they weren't able to in battle setup.

If you go to the tree it shows you the types. Take heavy calvery for example. If you notice fedual nights have and arrow to feudal foot knights. Ttttthat shows they can dismount to them. So you have the option for feudal, gothic, chivalric and Ghulan

You are correct. I'd forgotten about that. It is something I don't think is important enough to worry about, though it probably is something that is important and I should worry about it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Oh I forgot, once you go to battel setup they can't dismount or mount. You have to do that beforehand.

I've found Gothic and Chivalric foot knights to be *very* usefull... Seen them go something like 76 kills and 10 losses vs. Feudal or Chivalric sergeants more than once...(on hard)

Maybe you were just kidding, I dunno http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Anyway - to dismount them, right click on them when you prepare your troops for battle (the Begin battle popup should be there..) and you can do so.

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif jLan I was just joking. I was playing off the words mount & amount. With much of my (alleged) humour, you've to play spot the joke. Alas, often the payoff is not worth the time invested. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

What difference does it makes to Knight's fighting skills, whether they are mounted or not? Any noteable difference ??

Yes, if you expect spearmen and other units good against cavalry to engage your mounted forces. With this sloution you can beat them easily.

Well for one thing it helps in the woods to be dismounted. No penalty then as if you were mounted.
