I am having difficulty figuring out how to move land units over sea regions using ships, and the manual documents this very poorly, saying only that ships can be used much like any army... I cannot drag units onto a ship, merging it the way you would with an army. Do you need a particular class of vessel or number of them in order to transport units across sea regions? I can't even get units to cross the Irish sea. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif If someone could give me a quick answer to this very n00bish question, I would appreciate it.

LOL
ur right its a noobish question but here goes.

U dont board ships in the way u think u would. wat u do is build a port in ur sea provinces and as long as the region u want to land ur troops in has a port and there are no enemy ships inbetween the sea routes from port A. to port B. then u should be able to move ur army as if moving it on land, simillar to launching a crusade but ur troops arrive at their destination in only 1 turn.

in short province A. has a port and 500 byz inf in it and port B. has also got a port, there are no enemy ships inbetween the two ports so all u do is pick up the byz inf and drop them on the other region.

You need a port in the province you re travelling from but not at the destination. The important thing to remember is that you need a sailing vessel in every sea region connecting your destination province from the province you re in.

Of course if you were to say go from England to Ireland in this way your army will be stuck in Ireland until you can build a port in Ireland to return.

Ok, that makes a lot of sense, guys. I think the mistake I was making in my English Campaign was that I had a port in Wessex, but it was on the south coast, and so I technically had bridged the Irish Sea, but not the channel... DUH. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/redface.gif I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for answering the newb question; I appreciate it. And thanks, Gregoshi, for the welcome
