Yep, 500 is quite a lot. By the time I get to 500 the MTW 3 will be long on the shelves and a lot of people will switch to a different forum.
Maybe the 500 could be like 250 or so http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Ah, in time you will crawl up the list. I'm a knight now but before I get to Count, i need a lot more posts... It would be cool to select my own avatar but 500+ posts seems to be a year away...

jms don't be discouraged, Rome wasn't built in a day. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
quickest way i found to raise post count is find a good arguement on board and get stuck in http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

but thats not fun to be stucked into an arguement hehehe
yeah true but a good civilised arguement with no finger pointing is good http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Discussing the vikings seems to be a good topic around here, since we got strong arguments on both sides... hehe http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Don't worry about title, icon or post count.
Just enjoy the forum, debate with information not abuse and in general have fun... it is not like we can really buy you to fight in our sledging (Aussie for mouthing off at something).

Titles and ranks stinks imo, but since we have to have them, ignore them, only look at the replies people give, and then judge them if u want to http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

True. Titles and post counts are only skin deep to borrow an expression. Too many people feel they are a measure of your worth, which they aren't.

And exatly why do you have them then?
Isnt it you mods who have decided this?

There was quite a discussion about post counts and titles before we moved to these new boards. In the end it was decided to keep them. The group does serve to the purpose of assigning access to various features of the boards based upon the groups.
Post count is a novelty to which too many people attach importance. For example, I have about 1300 posts. In my first two years at the Org I managed a post count of 600. Then in October, I was asked to help moderate these forums. In the last 3+ months I've more than doubled the post count it took me 2 years to reach. Does that 1300 posts make me important? No. I only have that many because I have taken on a job and I'm trying to do the best I can. If I wasn't a moderator I'd probably still be in the low-to-mid 600's. Are the 700 posts I've made as moderator important? No more important than anyone else here. My posts that I feel are important are those in which I helped someone understand a point about MTW or these forums, or made a new patron feel welcome and comfortable about participating here, or made someone laugh. And you can't tell any of that from a post count.

Well said Gregoshi. I have been coming here since I found it after Shohun came out. I visited every time I went to uni and (almost) never posted. What does it matter?
However, I think that becoming a moderator to boost your post count was a bit underhanded... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
