I was playing the Almohads last night and I watched as the independent province of Portugal invade my Leon I have never, ever seen that before - an independent province invade one of the provinces that I control. Has anybody else seen this?

In any event, I thought it was pretty cool... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

As England, I got invaded by Scotland.

It was more of a raid, really... they only brought like 2 or 3 units of clansmen. If memory serves me correctly, it happened shortly after they had beaten back an invasion... perhaps they counterattack? Or perhaps it's just part of that lovely animosity between England and Scotland.

Wow, no, never saw it Must say, I haven't played that much campaigns yet in MTW (4, maybe 5). In STW I saw it sporadically happen, mostly when the defending garrison was extremely small or wholly absent (figures).

How big (approx) were your garrisons? And yours, Ueriah? I'm curious..

In my HRE campaign, the Aragons invaded and took Toulouse from me while I was tangling with England. I suspect their king was really just trying to flee north as the Almohad hordes were knocking on his door.

The Aragonese, Sicilians, Novogrodians, I seen them expanding. But haven't seen Rebels doing it yet.

Rebels invaded me two times so far.
It happened when my garrison was small or empty.
In expert setting, rebels are numerous while my garrison is so small.

I defeated them once when I had a samll army, and was defeated once when I had none. pretty fun

I heard somewhere that rebels can be modified to have some logics like Catholic_expensionist...etc.
But I am not sure, any one has any clue?

In the campaign I'm in now, during the computer moves, I've seen rebel armies attack an AI faction prov twice. But it hasn't happened to me yet http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

It has happen to me. It appeared that when the rebals have existed for a long time and have far supirior forces to mine in the neighboring provinces they attack.

It`s also not so uncommon that rebels try to retake a lost province when they retreated to another rebel country.

P.S. Yes, I`m half way to my avatar http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yeah it happens quite often, just depending on the size of the army in the rebel probince and the armies surrounding it. If they think theyhave something to gain then they go for it.

Alrowan: I too have had Morroco carve out its own little empire, I killed off the Almohads and that was the main chuck of their army. I guess that sort of thing happened in real life, too: one King snuff it and the line ends, someone else has to step in to fill the gap.

Edit - I spelt step spet how crap is that?

It happened to me already in a few games i played. I think normally when they outnumber us they attack. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

I've seen Norway/Sweden get rather big, even having a ship in Baltic sea.xdThe took my poor defences in Denmark, before I counter-attacked & finished them. Dammit.

Novgarod has been wiped out numerous times in my SP campaigns by either the Livonians or the Lithuanians. Once I've gotten into the Baltic I've often found a Lithuanian empire stretching from the bay of Riga to Muscovy. I've also been attacked (and driven back) by the Catalonians when I was fighting in Spain as the English.

Happen to my short-live, ill fate Polish campaign.

I was happy going conquer the eastern rebel provinces. As polish, I figure I must take advantage of the catholic peace (and pimped off my daughters to HRE and Hungary for extra peace on Western front), and play agressively on the Eastern side.

But then the Danes came attacking a northern rebel province (forgot the name). And the rebel get double rebel with 1 full stack of good stuffs. The rebel kicked out the Danes.

I said, uh oh. Pulled back my troops from the Eastern campaign (but not too much cause I want to keep these too). But the rebel just walk to my capital with that full stack of rebel.

Needless to say that the Polish state is wiped out shortly after (The Byzantines smelled blood and attacked the rest of the provinces).

Thing is, rebel parties that control 2 or more provinces can not be considered a rebel party anymore. They should auto change to a regular faction.

I agree, excellent idea. Except, what if they are allready taken? perhaps the catalans will emerge in the baltics? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I've already seen French respawn in Finland(with fair success). So why not?

Sometimes rebels change into factions. When I was playing with Italians, the Swiss faction emerged...

Heh. I'd seen the Sicilians re-emerge in Greece, when they hadn't even touched it once; me (the Egyptians) and the Byzantines had fought over it for 100-some years, and then it rebelled. The year after it rebelled -- woop The sicilians re-emerge, obliterate the rebels and now they're working on Constantinople -- with some degree of success, I might add.

I'm not sure if the Sicilians count, but it seems every game I play they become my arch-rivals. As Byzantines (my first game ever) I was very new, and they managed to take away all my Italian provinces. I wiped them out... only to have a long lost heir some twenty years later... right in the middle of my empire.

In another game, as the English, I took the Spain route to Africa, but meanwhile Sicily somehow managed to take over at least half the world, don't ask me how. It was scary.

Welcome to the Org Lord Xeen. Glad you decided to join us. However, we can't guarantee no Scilians will show up here. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif We've got people from all over the world here. Which is actually quite convenient when you are still playing MTW in the middle of the night and need some help. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
