One of the most important things for playing online is making sure you don't get waylaid by a camper on an impossible map. Mind you, I do play as many people and maps as I can, but some are just outrageous.

If there are any intrepid souls out there that like cataloging, this would be a great project and a great help to online players. All that is needed is the map name, and a quick description to evaluate its fairness. Even, small defender advantage, moderate defender advantage, and huge defender advantage would probably suffice. If you are really ambitious, a short description would help as well: for example, Moderate defender advantage: bowl shaped valley, with hvy forest and hillsides.

With the old STW, I had a printout I got from the guide that let me look up the map at a glance to see what I was getting in to. Now with the maps all changed and new maps as well, we need an update.

Myself, my time is going into playing online and taking a stab at mapmaking, but I would be happy to help edit any effort made.

Thanks in advance!

check Editing, there are moves by Tosa and co to get evryone to send descriptions with their maps. Otherwise the best place so far is Kikujiro's dojo, was the site of the week still might be you'll have to check. THis has quite a few useful and entertaining reviews.

Thanks Catiline, helpful, but not really what I had in mind.

I want a quick list so that while staring at the games offered online I can make an informed choice about who to play based on the fairness of the map. Something in Word or Excel...

Hmmm, that guy wants to play on Iyo, wonder what kind of defender advantage he has there? Better play the guy on Nagashima, at least I know what I'm getting in to there.
