How do I get higher valour?

I'm very new to the game.

I would like to know the different ways that you have raise the valour of your troops. As many as possible. Can you buy valour?

1. No you can't buy valour;

2. Certain province give you extra valour for certain troop types. For example, Genoan Sailors has extra valour if trained in Genoa. Tuscany can train better Mititia, etc.

3. High command general (many stars) raise valour of his army.

4. Troops gain valour through combats. After a battle, you may see some units gain valour. Merging the units together creates a generally better unit.

ps2: and Red, you are talking about how to get gen high command, but the question was valour of each unit, two different things. See #3 above. And also, Red, there was numerous posts on the Org before bragging how fast they won the game, and it seems they all beat your 50 turns http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I don't quite remember, 'cause I didn't pay any attention...
