Okay does anyone have any tips for playing in expert mode to maintain the majority of your alliances everytime you go to war with other nations? Cuz like everytime I declare war, every country breaks their alliance with me and then I just stand alone by myself... And also do you guys often get into multi-nation battles? I always only get 1-on-1 battles and it's kinda boring... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

99% of my battles are 1-on-1.

Alliances are a tricky business, I am reluctant to go to war with a faction who shares alliances with the same factions I do. If I must, the I take over the provs I want and then try for a ceasefire or I wipe that faction out completely so I can reestablish my alliances. Sometimes neither of those is easy. It seems like if you end up with war with a few factions, you become public enemy # 1 and its very hard to get alliances or even casefires anymore.

I usually conquer rebels or attack factions who have few/no allies - unless I'm playing in 'fight-the-world' mode. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Aah alright, cuz before I bought the game, I've seen many screenshots showing massive armies with like 4 or more different nations brawling each other out

or maybe those were just the custom battles I guess

Or multi-player battles online.

I had a series of 3 battles where Novgarod(?) and Hungary attacked my HRE in a bridge province, therefore it wasn't as exciting as it could have been.

i play English expert, once my 1000 elites faced and defeated 10 000 allied troops at constantipole, theyre Italian, Turks, and Egyptian.

The multi-nation battles are very rare. As guys pointed out you get them if one of your border provinces (or not your province, but one that you have access to) is contested by at least one of your allies. Then you/he can join the battle.

If you want the 10000 troops action just have the MP games (sometimes with 8 players) or the Custom Battles. However from my experience the large CB end up with your ally getting kicked and you saving the day http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif AI is to quick to get into action and usually just charges away into the fron of the other troops...
