I've been sending my Inquisitors into enemy territory on the assumption that reducing their population would damage their economy. Since I'm a very economic campaign player that would help me.

Question. What exactly does my Inquisitor killing 1500 people in the enemy province give to me?

I think a 'burning' session by an Inquisitor raises the Zeal of a province to 100%. So, a possible tactic could be to send in an inquisitor ahead of your Crusade. Once he burns everyone, move your crusade in and pick up a load of soldiers... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif

But, does it have any economic effect on the 'burned' province? Surely losing 1500 citizens would put a crimp in the income from farmland and trade. Wouldn't it? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

I don't think burning does anything against the economy, it should hurt it like a plague does, but as far as I know it doesn't. Also, burning doesn't increase zeal, it cuts it in 1/2. The inquistor's presence raises zeal up until he burns people then it has a negative effect on zeal.

An Inquisitor increases Zeal in a provence UNTILL the burning begens (Ususally when zeal reaches 75%ish) then Zeal can drop down to the 20%s its all about timing.

I use Inquisitors as assassins.

Sure, they only work against low Piety generals... but they can slip past the border forts that kill assassins. And the Royal Inquisitors, once they get a kill or two under thier belts, are capable of killing those with royal blood.

My current Italy campaign has been the greatest use of them. I'm weeding out France of heretics, keeping them nice and weak. Doing so has evened out the war between England and France-- the French had a decided advantage prior to my subtle intervention. I like keeping the European factions at one another's throat while my leigons are away in Middle East with the Byz, Turks, and Egyptians.
Less chance of getting invaded if they are all tied together in a knot...
