Cool pics - we now have troops on walls, assault towers, and scaling/attacking walls.
Enjoy,
Grifman
PS, I think we need a new forum
WOW thx for the Gamespot link Griff http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
from the article:
As fans have hoped, the next game will feature fully 3D units in the tactical battles, and the screenshots show that they'll have quite a bit of detail when seen close-up.
I was under the impression that most the fans really didn't want 3d because of system demands, at least until we were told it wouldn't be more demanding than MTW
For some insane reason when I go to Gamespot's site I get no pictures?? Even when I go to the root directory (www.gamespot.com) and try to access the Rome preview I still get no pictures.... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif
AAAAHHHH http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif
Are they the same screenshots as the ones posted at Totalwar.com or are they completely different? If so then could someone please save them to your hard drive and then e-mail them to me?
Pretty please?

from the article
Epic battles between collosal armies. Over 10,000 fully polygonal, motion captured units can be displayed simultaneously with virtually no sacrifice of performance compared to Medieval: Total War.
To add to Barocca's quotes...

Currently it runs on just about anything; we've have had it running on 4mb Voodoo1 cards. The look starts to degrade with less than 16 mb of texture memory though, so a TNT2-type card with at least that will probably end up being the listed minimum.
This is still early days, so keep in mind that it could all still change without warning. Forward looking statements and all that...

It looks like CA put together an exceptionally capable 3D engine for future iterations of the Total War series. I'll still feel better about things when I upgrade to a Radeon 9700 this Spring... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

My PII 350 and Voodoo3 tell me they are still skeptical...(but I'm pretty happy).
