I have a campaign as the byz, and control most of the map. The one thing that perplexes me is the magical AI attacks. One turn I look at England (whom im fighting), all they has is some barques located in the british channel. The next turn a british caravel magically appears in the middle of the Meditteranean, vicously attacking me. What is the deal with that?

The second thing I have experianced is the disapperaing and reappearing crusader armies. One time the Italians had a huge crusade for constantinople. It was in Hungry but as soon I hit end turn, they are gone. Nowhere to be found. I even typed in .matteosartori. but nothing showed up. I shrugged my shoulders (it was a good thing, why worry about?) and ended the turn. The Crusade magicallly appeared in Valencia and took it.

I would like to know how this can bestopped. It boggles the mind http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif

Hi Dr-Who
I am afraid I can only help you with the first problem.
It's no miracle, it's just that caravel can travel 3 sea regions in one turn, Cogs and caracks even more, I think.
Yes, I know that is unfortunate when you only have galley of various sorts. But caravels have a low defence, if you attack them first you should be able to destroy them. Try to build always the newest ship types available to you, then it should be quite easy to dominate the seas.

About the crusade, I have never seen that before. The only similar thing would happen if you lost constantinople temporarily to a Catholic faction, the crusade heading there would then be returned to its home province and turned into a marker again. But I guess that wasn't the case. So maybe someone else can answer this...
