Hi all,
sad I have a problem to report in my first post, but I was really enjoying playing the Brits in my first capmpaign, found the Org, installed the Patch, then found I couldn't build any additional Longbow (that troop type disappeared off the training queue).
Did anyone else have this problem, how did you fix it?

Saddened, but enraged, over the next few weeks I crushed western France, all of Spain, Scandinavia (learnt to use navy) and was belting the Byzantines (patiently)when my crusty old King died with no heirs (three of them foolishly fertilised the soil in Spain&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif.
End of story, aagghh, ...but it was fun

Patch and previous games do not mix. Do not play campaigns pre patch on a patch system.

Also longbowmen I think you will find are not available in the early era.

This is the way it is supposed to be., Before it was a mistake along with a few other units.

Welcome to the org Fate Amenable to Change, how prophetic a name to your current predicament. Post patch some units are not available till a certain time period. Unfortunately for you, your beloved LongBowMen are one such unit. They aren't able to be trained until the High Period I believe. All factions have some units that have this restriction. When is the High Period? I'm not sure of the exact date, but probably around 1200. They are worth the wait. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Aha, thanks guys, nice to know.
My second campaign (my current one) is playing GA Byzantines, and my, isn't the Forum a source of ideas for how to play an interesting game. It's been helpful to read the $value$ of trade (previously I'd supported much aggressive expansion with Florins Pillaged (a byproduct of taking provinces for their income). Presently battling off three crusades (taking over Antioch a byproduct of getting the Turks off my back http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif )

Also - I love the idea of the online game being presently texted http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif will make for some teriffic reading

Fate Amenable to Change, thanx for showing an interest in my project. As Gregoshi mentioned there should be quite a few spots opening up in the governors front as the Egyptians Fall to the might of the turkish empire http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

And dont worry that your not a forum regular, im not going to turn you away because you happen to be new here, that would be newist (as in racist http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif ) and im just not like that. So if you feel that you would like to control a province then come along http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif post your interest in either thread, although i would prefer the thread which Gregoshi has linked to.
