Well at least your mistake was phonetic or should that be fonetik?
Why would this be an excuse? I hate iraq just as much as the next guy. But pinning this on them would be hard considering it was a Kuwaity.
The day you are waiting for is Jan 27. Thats the day that Iraq will look like a fool.

well i doubt they where kuwaity gunmen since they kinda like america and allies, so no doubt itll get traced back to iraqi gunmen.
Actaully There have been a few other attacks from Kuwaity citizens in the last year. In fact 4 US soldiers have been killed so far.
Agian this is not the smoking gun. And if it exist. The pres already has it and is just waiting for 27 Jan.

not necessarily yellow, remember those American marines killed by Kuwaiti gunmen a couple months ago? The Kuwaiti's have just as many ists in their country as Iraq does. Don't think, that just because we saved their @sses in the persian gulf war (for their oil of course)that they like us...

Also in the news today- the French threaten to block any US request for UN support in a war with Iraq.
I dunno about you.... but I don't know whats happened to us when we let the French push us around.... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

This would be nothing new for France. As I recall, when Reagan bombed Libya back in the 80's, the US aircraft had to fly around French airspace from their bases in England.
I don't particularly like the prospects of a war with Iraq and having such weak international support. As much as I'd like to see Hussein out of power, this isn't the right time. It is simply another reason for American popularity to sink even lower in many parts of the world.
January 27 is when the weapons inspectors are to issue their first (preliminary) report.
Just a little reminder to all: let's keep this topic civil. In case you haven't been following events in the Tavern forum, a few similar topics turned quite nasty recently. Let's not repeat that here. Thank you. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif
French wont push us around. Been stated that we will attack with or without the UN. Or the french.
I think its time for my english empire to kick some french but by the way. TA TA.

I strongly argree its not the right time.
First of all, Iraq gets very hot in the summer. It is some time away yet but supposing they get stuck they might have to pull out, remember they want to soldiers out before 25 March.
Also Iraq want do anything, if they did the whole world would be against them. Iraq knows no one supports the war, they will keep it that way.

More than half of Kumait's 2.2 million population is made up of non-citizens: legal and illegal migrants and guest workers. Also, 60 percent of the Kuwaiti citizens are age 21 or younger, and they don't exactly recall that whole liberation thingy.
To say the Kuwait public is sympathetic to to the US is a stretch by any imagination.

You make a good point, Gregoshi. But I have to ask you this: when will there be a good time to remove Sadaam? Will there there ever be one?
A lot of these protesters really make me mad. I have nothing against protesting, I really don't. But some of them actually have signs that say make love, not war. And I saw a group of women holding up dolls to thier exposed breasts (with great difficulty, I'll try and stay focused here) to say don't hurt the babies or something of the sort. ARE THEY HIGH??? ARE they? I'm sure all Iraqi citizens are just peachy under the current regime. Why should the the US stir up trouble???
Am I a warmongerer? Of course not. I feel, however, that some people are simply ignoring the facts, which is JUST AS IRRESPONSIBLE as going to war without reason. GAH Self rightous people really piss me off....
Ok, I think I've let off enough steam for one post. I hope I haven't exeeded the boundries of civility....

I think that you'll find this viewpoint more common than one might suppose, and it is just that extremes tend to draw the most media attention.
A 2nd Gulf War and its political repercussions is one thing (we can argue about that all day), but militarily Iraq has no chance...this will be over very quickly and most US/Allied casualties will be accidents, friendly fire, and/or a lucky Scud shot.
Hopefully we can minimize Iraqi losses, let the Iraqi people choose their new government, and get on to winning the peace

They already did. Iraq held an election just last year and Saddam won by a landslide. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

I believe the ballot said something like:
Do you want Saddam Hussein to remain in office? Yes or No?

Let's not forget in the mid nineties that the governemnt of Sudan offered to let Bill Clinton have Bin Laden on a silver platter. Apparently that also wasn't the right time. We all know what that priceless decision led to. Thanks Bill, nuff said
I think in the last election Saddam didn't want to confuse the populace, like the Florida voters in the U.S. Presidential election, so he simplified the choice
