I'll keep this one short.
I entered about a 60000 man battle with the horde.
I find that, when I click on most of my forces I get EXACTLY this message (with typo):
This unit is not alive (aparently)
I can't control most of my men.....joy.

But I'm a good strategist, I engineered a good one to kill Ogadai, driving him into the dead units (who fought when attacked) and ensured a long term victory.
Then, I try to group the dead units so I wouldn't click on them. Insta-crash. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif
I am NOT doing that again It was 3 hours, and not halfway through
I'll just move on to the HRE with MedMod.

[BTW, investigations could prevent future occurrences - trust me, you don't want this grief, especially near the end of the campaign. I'll be working on it.]

I searched the Main Hall for such a message about the unit not being alive, because this is the second mention of that message in the last two days (or was that you the first time too?). I found no references to the message. I may not have tried the right search criteria though.

Moral: don't mess with the dead. Or is it the undead?

The first was me.
Now that I think about it, the problem could be unique to me; a file could have been messed up somehow. I did install a mod, but I thought I backed up everything. Ahh...possibilities. I would suggest that you reinstall mtw, and install again with pathc and mods etc..

Well Gregoshi is partly right, I have seen someone talking about there units appearing to be dead when fighting the Horde. Cant remember who or when but its around here somewhere Ill look around, maybe they found an answer. Seems to be a Horde issue as well.
