Howdies,

Read quite a few posts suggesting using inquisitor's to improve the peity rating of the faction leader and his generals. Don't know if anyone has noticed it: but inquisitions appear to have an undesired side effect... The king/general on trial is likely to obtain a heretic V&V after the first inquisition (I guess, the royal fella lost his faith in the almighty after such an unjust accusation)... From then on, the peity rating does go up with repeated inquisitions, but the heretic V&V stays and is likely to perpetuate itself in the heirs. And this does not sound like a desired trait. Any comments?

BTW, I have noticed it work on AI generals as well. Pick a reasonable peity AI general and send an inquisitor after him. Even though the chance of burning the target is 0% in the first trial, the target is likely to have become a heretic when you bring the flames back to him the year after... I heard someone here has been burning Popes this way.

Inquisitors are kinda bizarre imho http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

The few times I used it on my king I ended up with off-setting v&v's for net 0 piety gain. The same is often true when used against AI generals; present campaign as Italians I have been try to burn a few Spainiards...they all get born again and athiest after the first run through the mill. They are easier to catch after that, just seems to be an odd mix http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif

IMHO, there is some merit to these anti-religious V&V's. Being subjected to a 'friendly inquiry' by an inquisitor should be sufficient to change ones feelings about the Allmighty quite drastically. I was just surprised that none of the posts I saw suggesting using inquisitions for improving King's/Generals' peity mentioned the atheist/heretic side effect of inquisitions.

The funny thing about getting Heretic or Athiest on a general after an Inquisition is that I've noticed a disturbing tendency on the part of the computer to disregard the piety penalties that vice gives. I just launched an Inquisition against a 2 piety general, failed, and then saw him listed with 3 piety and a brand new Heretic vice next turn. Shouldn't his piety have been reduced to 0?
