i tried making a Helms Deep Map, but the AI always place the artillery on places block by the mountain... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

so i guess it is gonna be hard to build LOTR on this engine
i heard ROME will had seige weapon and ladders, i think that would really make storming the KEEP fun http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

i am gonna try the map out http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Thanks for the info and the maps. I have been thinking about these battles on computer for last.....what, 12-15 years? Did anyone else ever play the old, OLD (like 1990) game Universal Military Simulator? I made alot of LoTR games/maps for that. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I don't doubt for a minute it would be worth it. Tumhalad could be a cool dynamic. Mobility hindered by having rivers on three sides, a forced frontal fight....

What I really wanted was for them to The Silmarillion as the next Total War game. But Rome looks good, if they skip the add on pack and go straight to it, perhaps by a year after the release of Return of the King.

Better choice than the Ring War referenced in the pole. Battles were much bigger and grander. I would love to see the morale message that comes up when a dozen balrogs lead legions of orcs to battle, and just as it gets real ugly, Ancalagon or one of his brood sweeping down with flames curling.

Might make Naptha throwers look like so much flotsam.

aahhh the glory that could be....
