Hello,

Well... err... this is my first post so hello to everyone.

I ve been reading the forums for a while so at least i know something about this community; having seen that all questions are answered without any criticism makes me comfortable before asking my question http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif.

I actually am not the kind that asks everything without reading anything; although i dont have the game manual, i made a good amount of research about the game (thanks to internet) and have some knowledge about the basics of the game, stats for the units, buildings etc.

I played as the Turkish faction on the early campaign on the hardest level, could make it to the next age. I was planning to make my important armies full of Janissary units, esp the heavy one, but got a little dissapointed when i saw i could make only one grand mosque and one mil acedemy. I still have a voice inside me saying that there is something i dont know, and wondering if this voice is right http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Sorry for the long post, writing long posts and not being able to finish a post is a bad habbit of me http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Thanks for listening me.

Welcome to the .org my Turkish friend Don't worry about the post length, some of our posts seem to go on forever http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif As far as the one Grand Mosque and the one Military Academy goes, I am afraid you are correct. You only get one of each. You can still make plenty of Janissary troops if you set that one province to do nothing but produce those types of troops.

My Ottoman Sipahi once conquered Egypt and captured their Grand Mosque intact. I was then able to build another Military Academy there and produce JHI in Egypt as well as in Constantinople where I had already built both buildings http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

I too am playing the turkish campaign and am not fond of this restriction. They better be worth it To add to the post above, I would say plan your grand mosque carefully. I am about to conquer spain so that i can plant the mosque in one of those provinces with metal deposits(that allow for metal smiths and weapon upgrades). Hopefully the spanish have built a nice citadel for me to steal fomr them

Thanks for the welcome messages http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Well, than my Turkish army would be of little threat to France armies in this campaign as they dominate most Europe. Without the Janissaries, or let's say with so few Jannissaries, the Turkish army is not so powerfull. In the late and high, European armies have pretty good units. The H Jannisaries helped me alot while defating Egypt, Byzs and throwing off the Spain from the north Africa though.

Hello you Turks
Just tear down the gret mosque after you built the academy
and build it up again in another place http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

You could always learn to mod the game {whilst Mr Frost enjoys the anoyance this suggestion will generate in the Tinman rules crowd http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif} . I find this quite enjoyable in its' own self {it's as much the creativity I can indulge in as it is the actual playing the modifyed game I enjoy} .

One useful tip playing Turk : Build a Master Horse Breeder in Armenia as you will then produce from there Armenian Heavy Cavalry with +2 Valour , which will make them almost as powerful as basic {0 valour) Chivalric Knights {only their Armour , which only effects missiles not melee , will be lower .
Then build up for a high leval armourer there and those Armenians will be able to match the Crusader Knights {Virtually identical to Chivalric Knights} and Chivalrics etc .

Also , put a Ribat in a province with a high leval Armourer {and Metalsmith if you have one} and produce lots of Jihad markers as the troops produced in those Jihads {in that province} will get the bonuses ... thus you can get upgraded Khwarazamaims etc rather than the vanilla variety which would be greatly outclassed by high era Chivalrics . The moslims weren't stupid nor foolish ... they prefered to obtain high quality equiptment as much as did the Christians so doing this to get the better armour {and weapons if possible} is perfectly legitimate .

Thanks for the tips guys. One more question, it is off the subject though... Somewhere in the forums i read people talk about the stats of the archery units in the game. Not the usual attack and defense values, but something related to their range, effectiveness when shooting etc. I would like to read it myself rather than asking which unit is the best. Can you tell me where this info is?

in main medieval - total war folder, you've got a projectiles.txt files listing all stats for proj. For a better reading, download the gnome editor(I'm pretty sure it's available at the dungeon). You can even mod it, but beware, overpowering leads to bizarre effects on game balance...
