Hey all

Well its good to be able to finally post here. I've been playing the game for some time (to my wife's dismay) and am really enjoying it. However, i'd like to be able to keep my CD in good nick and not risk having it scratched so..

Does anyone out there know of a No CD Hack, patch or mod that will let me play the game without having to use the CD?

It'd be much appreciated

Also, has anyone noticed how long it takes to build up suitable troops when playing as the Byxantines in the Early Era? Its a bit of a bummer to have lots of peasants but no heavy cavalry etc, etc. I've had to cheat a little by modding my starting money to an unholy amount

No CD Hacks are generally associated with pirated versions of games. Such requests are not far removed from the old 'I've lost my CD case .. can anyone supply me with the access code'.

Can't see you finding much help here.

Welcome aboard cyclonic. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Wellington has summed it up quite well regarding no-CD hacks. My advise is to:

1) not throw away the CD case or the manual.
2) write the CD key on the CD with a permanent marker (not the shiny side&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif in case some one throws out the case or manual.
3) don't let your 4 year old kid use the CD as a frizbie.
4) buy a CD repair kit just in case.

That is about all you can do.

As for the Byzantines, I can't help you.

you are allowed to make a backup copy of the disc,
there are sites that specialise in teaching you how to make a perfect game copy and how to play using it,
nothing illegal as long as you retain ownership of the original disc, even if the disc is damaged you MUST keep your copy of it handy.

any further discussion is likely to come damn close to condoning piracy,
