View Full Version : Governors

I noticed something interesting the other day. I was doing an inventory of my Governors when I happened to glance at Lord Amyot of Champagne. He had earlier reaped the benefit of the pop-up event that deals with Champagne (+3 Acumen) and I expected to see Builder on him as I had ensured that his province was always busy. Not only did I find Lord Amyot free of Vices and Virtues but I found that the general in the same army as him was a Builder and a Steward This is very odd since Walter de Mobray wasn't in charge of a province. De Mobray had no titles at all. He never had a title of any sort. But there he is with Builder, Steward, and Zealot. It turns out that Lord Amyot has 1 command star and was in the same army as the 2 star De Mobray. Has this happened to anyone else? It looks as though Amyot's commanding officer was taking his virtues. Kinda like taking credit for Amyot's work. If this is indeed the case, the applications for it are enormous.

Well, you can't say this doesn't happen in real life. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pissed.gif

its actually an intersting bug... if yo have a good general from the start of a game who you want to be a chief govenor, then put him under the command of another general, so as to keep him vice free

One possible application that I thought of is to prep princes for the day they will govern a province. I haven't tried this yet but theoritically I have Prince Jean sit in command of, say, Lord Amyot. While still a Prince, Jean could gain Builder and Steward virtues that would give him a leg up when he becomes Jean Poitevin. I am especially interested in applying this to Steward as I can never seem to get Magnificent Steward on a governor. Alrowan's comment regarding using this as a shield is especially prescient considering that I did exactly as Ryttare suggested (jsut{sic} drag the govenor out of the army) and saw Lord Amyot gain Secret Perversion and Secret Bad Temper.

Very interesting. It suggests what Alrowan says that you should keep your best generals (high star ones) or at least promising Princes stacked with your king, to keep them vice free. Of course, then you are not benefiting from their stars in defensive.
I wonder what it implies for governors? Initially, perhaps, they should be unstacked to benefit from the building and other virtues? Perhaps later, they should be stacked with a fall guy to take the vices?
