Just curious....if a king kicks the bucket with no direct male heirs, but one of his generals is married to a princess, does the general become king?
So far my English king has yet to produce any male heirs, although the Queen has been popping out daughters like a pez dispenser. The King is also getting up there in years. If I marry a princess to a general w/awesome stats...will he become the next king?(w/o the King having sons of course)

Here lies the path to civil war.
He could become the king. But then again he could be slaughtered in civil war. If you don't get any heirs and civil war errupts, choose the faction with the best generals. A decent general is worth much more than any number of peasants.

Hello Longshanks, I like that handle, though I'm sure the Welsh and Scots may not. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Mr.chilling has answered your question well. I have never experienced a civil war yet, but definitely pick the side with the top general. If he is not of royal blood, take whatever side he chooses and ride him to the crown. Be assured the neighboring factions will be hanging about like vultures, waiting to pick up some of your territory. Good luck, I hope old queeny throws you male pup soon. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
Civil Wars can be fun in my opinion. Sometimes i will have 70% of the map and ill be kinda bored, then BOOM Civil War. but one time their not fun is when they come when my forces are under Seige by Mongolian Hordes http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif. my advise is simple:Consider the Generals siding with each faction, the number of Men and Number of provences. based on this information pick who you will back.

Luckily enough I finally got a male heir, although I was beginning to look forward to a civil war. It may have been fun. I'll have to start one later.
