Hi guys.
Basically Ive been reading most of the posts here, aswell as a mag review from about a month ago. The mag was drooling over this expansion (95% I think) and I couldnt wait to get cracking with a speedy mongol army lobbing caskets of explosives all over, but reading here I am seriously thinking if it is worth bothering to get this pack - especially before a patch comes out to iron over the probs. I also heard quite a bit about people not being allowed on the servers for online play due to invalid serial code or something. Do the problems add up so much that this game should be best left on the shelves for a while??

I haven't had any problems with the game at all (although i haven't gone online with it yet). I wouldn't recommend picking it up for $40 (-10) at your local store, but it think it's worth it overall.
I think the features that add the most to the original game are the new victory conditions and the new starting time periods. That and buildings are cheaper and take less time to build, giving it less of a "sit through the next few turns" feel.

Get it, you know you want it. Don't get caught in the hype on either side. I like it better overall than the original. Sure there are some things to fix, but so what. It plays fine, its fun, there is new stuff. No Worries.

Yikes, that's bad. I'll have to find that post and reply. That would be a loss for my online gaming - he was a great partner!

I just searched every where and I can't find his post. Could you direct me there Pussiecat?
Also, the people having the problem seem to be just those that got the expansion and not the full game, as far as I can tell

DragonCat, yep it looks like it is just those with the xpack that are having the CD error codes. However, if Tigerwrath is taking it back to a store, then it should be just the xpack, but the WE.....

Hi Dragon
I cant direct you to falkahn's post cos it is in the TwinTigers private forum and i cant be handing out the password now.
Are others having registration problems with the expansion then? (cos thats the one that I would be getting)

Aye. have done.

Personally I would take a wait and see approach until the patches come out, then decide. As it stands now, I wouldn't recommend it. And it's definately not worth 40 bucks, which is what I paid for it. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

Is it worth it? Yes! The game has some issues, I myself have some serious problems with some of the game implementation. BUT - first realize that its still adding alot of playability to the original. Not to mention - the cost is not $40 dollars, since EA offers a $10 dollar rebate to anyone who also has the original Shogun:TW. If you pre-ordered it thru gamespot.com or electronics boutique or similiar, they discount the price by 5 bucks as well. Meaning that some of us only paid $25 dollars +tax (US) for the game. Despite its problems - its WELL worth that much. Is it worth $40? I would say yes - but base it on how much you liked the original. If you loved the first one - you will love this one too - despite the cursing you will do when reinforcements arrive on the other side of the map and are thus useless to you. ROFL!
