Hi, I've only just recently started playing M:TW and am enjoying it thoroughly, however I was wondering if you guys know of any mods worth downloading that improve the balance of the game, or the AI, and so on? I see quite a few mods about but information on them seems hard to come by.

Also, if anyone had produced anything which added in a 'warning when provinces are idle' feature, that would be great http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I know you can just open the parchment then click left or right to scroll through the provinces and check, but that gets pretty tedious when you have loads of them.

My advice is to play un modified for a few months then start to check out the mods. That way you will better know what it is about the game that you would most like to do differently. There are several mods that do a few different things. I am currently trying out WesW's mod which is very good. You can find posts on many mods by searching in the dungeon.

Why not try to make your own mods? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Its really easy, and u don`t need any modding experience at all

Just do as me, and try modding on stuff in the Medieval\campmap\startpos folder.... by just changing 1 word, you can get to play with all the factions (=

In the early.txt doc all u have to change to play the faction is:

SetActiveFaction:: FN_SICILIAN FT_MINOR
Into:
SetActiveFaction:: FN_SICILIAN FT_MAJOR

Definitly check out the 1092 mod by Paladin, it's the mod I'm using now, and probably will always be the one I play on.

The only mod I use is the one which allows the production of footknights. I am ready to check out some others though. I prefer those that make only subtle changes to the game.

Switzerland is easy to add. you just gotta add a few lines here and there cuz the swiss are a predefined faction.

Welcome Colonel Kurtz. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif How to mod MTW seems to be the hot topic of the day. I'd suggest you scan the topics in the Dungeon forum for mod announcements. You'll get an idea what the mods are about and comments people are making about them.

Thanks for your replies folks - WesW's mod looks good - I reckon I will play the game some more to get an idea of what might be better when modded, then download something.
