I haven't played as the Turks yet, but I took a peak at the early.txt file and noticed that building a Royal Palace as the Turks gives you the Chief Eunuch title to hand out.

Surpisingly, the general who receives this dubious honor gets +2 to his loyalty

And shouldn't there be a vice for not having all of your um..equipment? lol...

What better way to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt your dedication. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

You would think you'd get at least a -2 morale. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

At the risk of prolonging a topic that prolly should be left alone ...

Not - 2 inches: it's not that bit that gets cut ot make you a eunuch.

Being Turk Sultan, that's the kind of promotion I would give to one of my uncle... A former heir, married man...
A nice way to cut... One branch of the family tree

Can an eunuch be married?

Louis,

PS; I hope I won't have to live with the embarrasment of having written this reply...

Hobart, I'm not sure who you are answering, so you've got me confused. Are we talking no spearmen or no Naptha Throwers? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

well an intersting story from whe i played turks... very interesting..

one of my old sons i made chief eunuch, and had him wed a byzantine princess while he was still my son.. (before he was titled) then he led a civil war... of which i took his side, and to my amazment, the man with no balls was crowned sultan...... as far as hiers go he made a few... but im sure they wer'nt his.. if you get my meaning.

well i might go back through old saves, and look for when he was wed while being chief eunuch.. then get a pic

On a serious note... in the Roman (Byzantine) Empire, being a eunuch was the best chance of gaining a position of power for a non nobleborn. The vast majority of the civil service were eunuchs... It actually was, believe it or not, a much respected condition. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif

Cheers.

Absolutely agree with Elwe. For a Byzantine family, offering up a surplus son to be a eunuch was, very roughly, on a par with western feudal families offering up a surplus son to the church. Of course, it is slightly perverse for MTW to offer Chief Eunuch as a post to be given to a successful middle-aged general.... but can't fault it on the grounds of added colour Even after the fall of Constantinople, Greek eunuchs were heavily relied on by the Ottomans as senior civil servants, for exactly the same reasons why the Byzantine royals liked them: they were well-educated, trained in efficient bureaucracy rather than war, but could entertain no dynastic ambitions.
