I just got this game recently and I have a question regarding multiplayer: Is it possible for two people to place cooperatively against the computer? If not, will this be possible in future versions? My friend and I like playing games multiplayer, but not so much against each other. Since we use computers behind the same firewall (i.e. one IP), we can't both play others online.

Thanks for your help

I am afraid that it is not possible to play co-operativaly. This will not be a feature of Viking invasion either, but as for RTW, who knows? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

HI Scott,

No you cannot play multiplayer with ai controlled factions. If you set up a LAN game, it plays just like that online. I don't know if this will be changed in Rome Total War. If you do go online, you'll find that you cannot host a game from behind your router, but you can join a game. I think you would have to rent and extra ip address from your ISP and replace the router with a hub for both of you to play together online. You would both also need your own cd keys which means owning two copies of the game.

I wish that there was a co-op mp option. Im not sure why this would be neglected, as co-op mp seems to be a very popular choice. Maybe a third party ap to ad bots to control mp ai? One can only hope.

Its frustrating to be addicted to a game that the developers have already given up on. Vikings are nice and all, but I would rather have seen a patch to fix the many game play issues, instead of an expansion used to boost sales.

Greetings and welcome Obex. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

I think one of the advantages to getting VI will that it will fix a number of the problems already in MTW. MI/WE did that to STW, the only difference being that in the MI/WE situation, there was a corresponding STW patch (free) that fixed the issues that the add-on did.
