I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this but since I can't post anywhere (yet) http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif here I go. Some of you may laugh but the thing that has taught me the most about history is a series called the Cartoon Histroy of the Universe (in three volumes) by Larry Gonick. They range from ancient Greece and Rome to India and China to Africa and Japan. Volume three was published recently and covers the topic so dear to our hearts: the middle ages including the Catholic west of course, the Byzantines, Islamic empires, Chinese, Indians, Mongols, Russians etc. in short everything. School was okay but these books really sparked my interest in history and then the Total war games. THey are also quite funny, in comic book style of course, pretty cheap and incredibly informative. Any other Cartoon history addicts out there please reply. Enjoy

I, too have seen this series, albiet long ago, and it is actually quite informative. I'll have to look for it next time I hit the bookstore. And you should to. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I'll also take the time to plug a book I bought with a christmas giftcard-

Armies and Warfare in the Middle Ages, the English Experience Written by Micheal Prestwich.

This is THE book to read for those interested in medieval warfare. It is very enlightening. I suggest you go to your local bookstore or library and just look through it for a few minutes, even if you don't plan to buy.
