How to get good assassins???

My best assassins have always been 4-5star.And usually some 1 star general or less kills them or they get got.

When using assassins, quantity is the key. Even your best assassins will have a significant chance of failure in many cases, so hit your target with multiple assassins.

I have found that having assassins stay in one province and just go after whoever happens to stop by keeps them alive longer. It seems, to me, that when I was moving them around a lot they would end up dying quick. Just my .02

One thing that still bothers me is civil wars that gomes if I start killing my own people like assassins.Can I avoid them whit out just being lucky http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif .

If you mean you're trying to assassinate your own generals, and avoid a civil war, that will mostly be up to luck, and the skill of your assassin. Try killing strategic pieces first. You have a log better success rate against them, and killing higher ranked strategic pieces will up your assassins rank just like killing generals, but with a lot better chance of success.

I've found that using rookie assasins as security agents is a good way for them to gain some stars.

Has anyone tried training up a unit of peasants (or like) and having your assasin systematically killing the general each year.

Probably rates as a cheesy tactic but i guess it would give you a good assasin.

Using them as security guards is good - got a 3 & 4 star assasin that way while protecting my king.

One game I used one province just for assassins and kept pumping them out, than I had them kill one another. After the bloodbath I had about 7 or 8 assassins were between 3 and 5 stars.

I took out the French, Byz and Almohad rulers with that crop. I went back and loaded before I pumped them out though, it was way too easy.

I just build a watch tower in every province and then place an assassin there. Usually the AI will send you some nice cannon fodder for your low level assassins to cut their teeth on. In no time at all they'll have a few stars and you can start sending them out on missions.

I would like to add another parameter here. I believe the worst problem is that assasins run off and hunt targets far away from the home lands which results to their death. Should they stay in, chances would be better for them (I hope). Could this be modified by any chance?
