Just wondering if any of you folks remember the epic heavy metal song Invaders by Iron Maiden? It was on The Number of the Beast album released sometime in the 80s. The entire song (it's really rather silly) is about, well, Viking raids and,uh-hem, Invaders. It goes something like this:

(rockin' metal dude guitar and drums. Helps to sing if you are wearing hot pink spandex)

Longboats have been sighted
and the evidence of war has begun
Many Nordic figthing men...
their swords and sheilds
gleam in the sun

Call the reinforments and assemble the men
on the shore
this enemy is much to powerful to take on
alone

Invaders
Raping
Invders
Maurading

I really can't remeber the rest, but it involves looting, pilliging, raping and all the other wholesome adventures of those wacky Vikings.

My college roomate would BLAST this song every other day, complete with lip-sync and air guitar (he was from Norway... he said it was a roots thing). However, now so many years removed, I think this would be a PERFECT song to blast while tellin' the Picts to be steppen' off at the point of an axe...

Any other proud ex-metal heads remember this song?

I liked Run to the Hills.
I think it was also on the beast album.

opeth all the way.. nothing beats viking music, but a viking band themselves... most nordic metal rocks

If i where to grade their albuns to get one that is the best, i wouldn't know how. They are all so good http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Now IRON MAIDEN had some unbelievable guitars, they could play them, instead of scrapping them.
Too bad about Bruce leaving though, that really sucked the life out of the band http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Hello LRossaRikimaru, welcome to the .Org http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Although I'm not a big fan of metal music, I admit that finding alternate music to play while campaigning does change the mood from boredom to enthusiasm. Currently, I use 'heroic' movie theme's (like Conan, Braveheart, etc, plus middle-eastern and Persian instrumental's). Only trouble is that WinAmp & MTW WAV's trip over each other, so I ditch the MTW WAV's.

Though I am not big in to metal, I must say that IM does it like no one else... I mean, they actually write SONGS with harmony and melody.

GREAT stuff to beat back Mongol hoards by...

Number of the Beast, Somewhere in Time, and 7th Son of a 7th Son are my three favorite IM albums.

Now... for the true geeks... who can name the FIRST IM lead singer? It WASN'T Bruce
