My favorite is a tie between Egyptians and Turkish.

I voted for the Egyptians. The Almohads are the strongest Muslim faction in the Early period, but the weakest IMO in Late. The Turks are just the opposite, they are the weakest Muslim faction in the Early period and the strongest in the Late period. The Egyptians are consistent throughout, so thats why they are my choice.

Totally agree ... great units. And the fact that they are quite challenging makes it even more interesting and motivating http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I agree as well. In the early stage you have to constantly fend out the crusader even though you had allied with them. Those infidels Grrrrrr http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif
egypt.. mainly due to their consitancy... if turks were given a better protected range unit like pav arbs, then they may get my vote... but i still love camels.. stinkng beasts

Turks hands down. No other faction represents the same challenge OR possibilities with its wide range of special units.

Almohads. When you play as them, you can usually use El Cid. When used by the computer, they are often the only faction (when they beat the Spanish) capable of challenging your power. When was the last time you saw the Turks put up a fight when you weren't controlling them?
The Turks are the only muslim faction have played so far (I hate the Almo too much to consider using them).
When controlled by the IA, Almohads are a threat if they manage to smash the Spaniards.
On the other hand of the map, the Byzantines are usually too dumb to focus on keeping their rich homeland and prefer conquering poor regions in Eastern Europe. The muslim faction, Turks or Egyptian, that destroys the other one and gains control usually becomes the dominant power in the East. I prefer when the Egyptian win becomes that really do not seem to have good units.
Egypt, Masters of Trade and great wealth. almost all the time i have the Strongest Economy in Europe with the Egyptians.

Egyptians give a more interesting game in any time period in my opinion.

I'd have to say the Turks, because of thier unique selection of units.
You have to fight very differently with them than you do with the Catholic factions, it makes for an interesting change.
I really cant choose... sofar the turks has given me the most success in online play
Go turkish, go

The Turks. They have one of the better force-mix in the game - IMO.
On a somewhate related topic, I also like the Muslim factions' sound track much better than the Catholic factions'.

You are right DXM. The European soundtrack is too clunky and intense. This is not a rampage game, it needs some calm music to get one in the proper mood for commanding troops in the tension and mobilization tracks.
Have you ever noticed the movie sound trick where the bass lines play at the same rate as a heartbeat, and then get faster and faster, and your heartbeat follows? Well, that is kinda what I am getting at here, the music sets the tone.
Turks are best muslim faction but I like a lot more catholic factions.Usualy I try destroy muslims as soon as possible because sooner or later they will come to my border whit 4000peasants 2000 soldiers or something like that.
And this is something that makes me angry http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

That`s a difficult one. I voted for the Egyptians because they have great skirmishers and a very good position. The Turks usually begin to dominate in my games if they manage to defeat the Byz, but got serious problems when the Horde arrives. In my recent Egyptian campaign, I didn`t conquer much but used my wealth to help the Turks against the Horde. My influence is on max all the time, everyone is allied with me except the Horde and the French (they wanted, but didn`t get it, now they now how that feels http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif ). The Spanish for example made a crusade against me but asked for a ceasefire the same turn.

Has anyone actually seen the Turks expand well when they are AI controlled? I know I haven't. Nobody likes the Moors. Boggles my mind.

Gotta go with the Turks, although Egypt is fun also.
During my current game (HRE, Early), around 1210 the Turks suddenly appeared on one of my borders-- they had taken out the Byzantines and the Egyptians. I was staring to get a little antsy as they looked VERY powerful. And then (a few years later)--- the Horde appeared. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
