I dont like chunky graphics.

Im having a problem with my MTW graphics, some times instead of a smooth looking graphic where everything blends the trees and soldiers have large squares around them of grassland graphic. Thus when i look at a tree i will see half trees cut off by this grassland square. Troops will dissapear behind other troops and it just ruins the feel of the game and can make it difficult to accuratly measure the size and positions of my units.

sorry for the horrible explination, i am not good with technical terms. Id appreciate any help or even tips on what i can do.

r u using a voodoo graphics card?

i was when i first ran mtw and i got wierd boxed squares round my men. then i got a geforce 2 (very cheap nowdays) and it all worked perfectly, ive got a geforce 4 now and its still running great.

Hi Wordsmith -

I know exactly what you are talking about. I had this same problems with a ATI 9700 card - and - after much gnashing of teeth, I discoverd the problems was heat. Simply, my card was over-heating and causing the distortions. I came to further discover that I forgot to dial back my clock speeds from a Splinter Cell gaming session (I over-clock my video for this game). This resulted in my card getting way too hot.

Although I doubt you are over clocking a video card on a laptop, the cause is likely over-heating given that all the parts in a laptop are VERY close together. I am sure you have noticed that the bottom of your laptop can become oven-hot (at least mine at work does&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif. If the problems you are having occurs in the latter part of your gaming sessions, I would say your computer is over-heating. If so, shut down and let the thing cool off, or do what I do and put the laptop up on a few blocks to increase air flow underneath the computer. Also, a few companies sell special cooling add-ons for laptops, but I have never used them.
