When I've been playing STW the troops and combat runs at 2x speed through the entire combat, even if I haven't done anything. Ended the game, rebooted and it's still happening.
Thanks.

Welcome to the Org Comic. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Sorry for the late response, my PC has been down and out for the last 3 days.
Are you play STW or the Warlord Edition (with the Mongols)? I know with WE, they increased the speed of combat level that was a tad faster than some of us were comfortable with. There is nothing you can do about that. I always though STW movement was at a perfect and natural looking walking speed, while WE units moved at an unnaturally faster rate of speed.
What makes you think the speed is x2 normal? STW will not run at slow motion speeds available in games like Starcraft.
If you are playing STW, check the little white triangle under the mini-map in the upper left corner of the battle screen. If the triangle is all the way to the left, then the game is running at its slowest speed. Ctrl-T will toggle the game speed between slowest and fastest speeds. You can use the mouse to drag the triangle to a speed somewhere inbetween fastest and slowest.
If I've missed the point, please elaborate more on your problem. Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome.
I'm playing WE, so maybe I'm just comparing it to the speed from MTW. I can't be sure its 2x, it just feels that way.
However I don't remember it always running that fast. I used the speed time bar once or twice, and the game locked up during one combat that I had speeded up, and when I went back into the game, the combat speed felt like it was still at the pre-crash speed.
Maybe I'll try a re-install and see what happens.
Thanks.

Then WE is the problem Comic. Like I said, the unit movements are faster than STW or MTW. You are right in that it isn't 2x but it seems unnaturally fast. There is not much you can do about it (here is where a modder steps in and says All you need to do is edit the units.txt file...).
