Hey, everybody. Been lurking about for several months but I just now have a pressing reason to post.

Some newbie Medieval: Total War questions here, ones I can't find the answers to anyplace else. I've googled them, went to Totalwar.com forums and looked, looked here and searched the archived posts back to the beginning of the forum using every turn of phrase I can think of. Can't find a satisfactory answer, so I'm afraid I'll have to ask some newbie questions...

First, what is meant by the terms Honour and Discipline in the unit description screens? From some of the archived posts I have a rough approximation, but even those posters don't seem to have a solid idea. I like understanding every nuance of this game and not knowing is sticking in my craw.

Second, is there a mod that will allow me to prevent destroyed factions from reappearing? If not prevent, is there one that will scale down the military units they arise with? Having just had a second experience of my entire English army being wiped out by a single province of resurgent French I'm finally prepared to either A)install a user mod(which I usually disdain) or B)Uninstall the game.

Thanx in advance for any help you can offer.

First question; Honor = starting morale. The higher the less likely troops are to root.
Morale is modified by some events, such as, losing, being charged by cav, being flanked, general dies, other troops rout etc.. (see sticky 'new please read this first' topic)
Disciplined makes units resistant to some of those modifiers such as general death and non disciplined or non elite troops routing.

Second; look at what is available in the dungeon. IMO, it's a normal feature of the game, and to get kicked from time to time is part of the fun.

Welcome,

Louis,

Hi Terser. Thanks for de-lurking.

Regarding your second question, there are way to prevent rebellions or at least make them less likely. See the links on rebellions in Table of Contents (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=7;t=2273). Also, there might be a such a mod as you ask for, but I can't say for sure. Here's something that might help: No Mass Rebellion (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=5;t=1403;hl=rebellion).

Hmmm, my search didn't reveal any mods that eliminate rebellions, which doesn't mean there isn't one. I'm some help eh? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif
