Golden moments

How about some stories about those memorable moments when the enemy walks right into your ambush etc, those times, which brings out your most cruel grins and ooh yeeeess...come on baby... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

One of my best was in Africa. I was playing the Danes and had just invaded. The start position was behind a large hill and no Almohads was in sight. I moved my army up the hillside, wanted to gain the high ground. 20 royal knights and about 40 feudal knights led my force and just as I was about to reach the top, I panned the camera around the hilltop and was rewarded with the sight of a large force of Almohads moving up the hill, but further down the slope. And best of all, the enemy general (saharan cavalry I think) was up in front, right behind the hilltop, practically staring up the points of my knight's lances. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I just thought oh yes, you bastards are really going to get it this time.. CHARGE

The knights just smashed straight through the general's unit, he was the first to fall actually, and then they thundered down the hill, crashing into his shocked forces. My infantry was right behind and within moments the Almohads was in full flight. A great victory.

I had a simmilar experience once. Also as the Danes. The English invaded me somewhere inland in western Europe, in Germany somewhere. At the time I also had a civil war.

I faced two armies with not the best of forces. It was winter and heavy fog. As I was the defender I deployed my troops in a forest on the far side, but I found the angle of the forest to be wrong and moved the army to the hill next to the forest.

Luckily the English defeated the rebels first, but they were still very strong when they approached me. ie plenty of billmen, while I had a few vikings and Fsgt and a total of three royal knights.

The english attacked me on my left side, and my line began to crumble. But then the english general moved towards my right, where my knights were. I charged my knights into the general, a sole royal knight. Needless to say, he died. Another memorable moment was the first time I tried the battle of Jaffa in the demo.

There I was, green as grass and was going to kick some ass. I paused the game and lined up my melee troops in a square with the back against the city walls. I put my missile troops in the middle with the royal knights in the rear. The melee troops was a bit strung out to make room for the shooters, but hey I got knights http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

Then I unpaused the game and sat back waiting for the Saracens.

The first sign was the dustclouds thrown up by the enemy. One cloud..two clouds three.. they just kept coming until the dustcloud stretched across the horizon.. I realized that all hell was about to break loose and couldn't hold back an Oh shit... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

Needless to say, they just rolled straight over me and wiped out my force.

Well, the best moment I ever had in Medieval was when I charged 1 royal knight into an egyptian army 800 men strong. by sheer force of dumb luck, i killed their general and won.

Hmmm...

The best moment has to be when my English prince and his Royals charged all the way through a unit of Peasants, cutting it into two pieces... looked great...

I was the Danes and was fighting a group of rebels. I had a former prince left over from the Early period with 2 knights left in his group. Charging downhill into 60 Urban Militia, he and his friend killed 24 just with the charge. I didn't get much more than that since they ran away immediately and my prince had other places to go

my fav battle so far was in egypt when playing as byz bribed a spanish army of bout three hundred militia, peasants and archers and ended up fighting 700 crack spanish troops and nearly 2000 rebels with feudal everthing batlle went on for bloody ages and i won with 1200 killed and 1000 captured with only 150 men left. felt i could take on the world afterwards only to get my ass kicked by crusaders next turn http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif still it was my golden moment http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
